On July 14th, the crew members of Mars500 phase one (105 days) were released from the M-pod in Moscow. A Russia Today video is available to have a view on the faces and mood of the interviewed "Martians".

During a press conference organize today at the IBMP headquarters in Moscow, the composition of the main candidates was announced:

Starting from January 26th 2009, the crew members gathered in Moscow to start training at Star City Center. There begins a 2 months period leading the members towards the 105 days simulation planned to start on March 31st.

March 2009 will see two European participants entering a set of modules at the Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP) in Moscow. Together with four Russian participants, they will be sealed inside these isolation chambers for 105 days. This joint ESA IBMP campaign is a preparatory study leading up to the 520-day isolation study in the form of a full-fledged simulation of a mission to Mars that is due to start end-2009. |
